Reasons Why You May Feel Tired & Exhausted After a Therapy Session

  • Going to therapy is hard work

  • Exhaustion is not just physical, but emotional and psychological

  • You are confronting your feelings, experiences, and thoughts rather than avoiding or distracting yourself

  • You are processing challenging and uncomfortable material and experiences you tend to internalize or keep inside

  • Take a few hours off after your session, or better yet, a half day or whole day off if you can

  • Take a nap

  • Go for a slow walk

  • Eat something delicious and savor it

  • Affirm and remind yourself you’re doing the best you can and you did a great job today

  • Expressing yourself in some way (singing, dancing, processing, talking)

  • Moving your body in some way (walking, stretching,
